Create an image

Describes how to create an image in the KSV web console.

This topic describes how to create an image in the KubeSphere Virtualization (KSV) web console.

Prerequisites

The user that you use has been granted the permissions to manage VM images. Only user admin, project administrators, and operators can manage VM images. Project viewers can view only VM images in the projects to which they belong. For more information about permissions, see VM management.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KSV web console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, click Virtual Resources to go to the management page of virtual resources.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose VMs > Images to go to the management page of VM images.

  4. On the System Images or Private Images tab, click Create in the upper-right corner. For more information about images of different types, see Images.

    common:NOTE

    Only user admin can create system images.

  5. In the dialog box that appears, configure parameters for the image.

    ParameterDescription
    Image Name
    The custom name of the image. The name can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), and hyphens (-), and must start and end with a letter or a digit. The name can contain up to 16 characters in length.
    Image File
    The image file of the VM. You can upload a local image file or use a URL.
    • From File: Select or drag an image file to upload. Only image files in the IMG, QCOW2, XZ, TAR, GZ, ISO, or RAW format are supported.
    • From URL: Specify a URL where the image file resides. For information about common image URLs, see Common images.
    OS
    The OS type of the image. You can select a built-in OS type from the drop-down list, or select Custom and then specify the type and version of the OS.
    Version
    The OS version of the image.
    Default Configuration
    The default configuration of CPU cores, memory, and disk size defined in the image.
    Description
    The description of the image. The description can be up to 256 characters in length. The character types of the description are unlimited.
  6. Click OK. The image appears in the image list after it is created.
