Connect to a VM

Describes how to connect to a VM in the KSV web console.

This topic describes how to connect to a VM in the KubeSphere Virtualization (KSV) web console.

Prerequisites

The user that you use has been granted the permissions to manage VMs. Only user admin, project administrators, and operators can manage VMs. Project viewers can view only VMs in the projects to which they belong.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the KSV web console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, click Virtual Resources to go to the management page of virtual resources.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose VMs > VMs to go to the VM management page.

  4. On the VMs page, find the VM that you want to manage, right-click on the blank area to open the shortcuts for VM operations, and then select a connection method in Connect VM from the drop-down list. KSV provides the following methods to connect to a VM:

    • Terminal: We recommend that you use Terminal to connect to a VM. This method is applicable only to VMs that are created by using standard images. You cannot use this method to connect to VMs that are created by using ISO images.

    • VNC: Use VNC to connect to a VM. This method is applicable to VMs that are created by using standard images and ISO images.

    common:NOTE

We recommend that you use Terminal for Linux VMs and use VNC or other clients for Windows VMs.

  5. In the new window that appears, use VNC or Terminal to connect to the VM.
